Answer: Seeking to put Gods love into action, Charleston Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities, and hope. Charleston Habitat for Humanity (CHFH) is part of a global, nonprofit housing organization operated on Christian principles that seeks to put Gods love into action by building homes, communities, and hope. CHFH is dedicated to eliminating substandard housing locally and worldwide through constructing, rehabilitating, and preserving homes; by advocating for fair and just housing policies; and by providing training and access to resources to help families improve their shelter conditions. Habitat for Humanity was founded on the conviction that every man, woman and child should have a simple, durable place to live in dignity and safety, and that decent shelter in decent communities should be a matter of conscience and action for all. Charleston Habitat for Humanity provides affordable home ownership opportunities for working families of moderate income in the cities of Charleston and North Charleston. Since its establishment in 1989, Charleston Habitat for Humanity has built 98 new homes, completed 50 home repairs, and changed the lives of more than 800 Charleston community members. The ReStore is a nonprofit home improvement store and donation center that sells new and gently used furniture, home accessories, building materials, and appliances to the public at a fraction of the retail price. Proceeds are used to build homes, community, and hope locally and around the world. It is located at 731 Meeting Street in Charleston, SC. In addition to providing domestic housing solutions, Charleston Habitat for Humanity supports ongoing construction efforts in Honduras. Firfty homes in La Ceiba, Honduras have been built thanks to tithes from Charleston Habitat for Humanity to the international mission.
