Answer: Christian Friends of Israeli Communities (CFOIC Heartland) is the only Christian organization to focus exclusively on the communities in the heartland of Biblical Israel. CFOIC Heartland raises funds for the communities and encourages tourism to biblical sites in these areas as well. CFOIC Heartland provides a much needed vehicle for Christians to become better informed about the Jewish communities in the heartland of Biblical Israel, to visit these areas and to provide practical support for vital community needs. Since its inception, CFOIC Heartland has stood steadfastly with those Jews who are at greatest risk in Israel, those whose core values are based on Biblical principles.Through CFOIC Heartland, thousands of Christians from around the world have become valuable friends and supporters of the pioneers of Biblical Israel. Churches, ministries and individuals have visited the communities and biblical sites of Judea and Samaria and have connected directly with the people living there. The have provided financial support for community projects and have made a real difference for those living in the communities of Judea and Samaria. MEET SONDRA BARAS Sondra Oster Baras was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio in an Orthodox Jewish home. She was educated at the Hebrew Academy of Cleveland, a religious all-day school sponsored by the Cleveland Jewish community. Upon graduation from high school, Sondra studied religious studies at the Jerusalem College for Women in Israel. She completed her B.A. in history and English at Barnard College (Columbia University) and obtained her J.D. at Columbia University School of Law. In 1984, she moved to Israel, where she continued her legal career, and became a founding member of Neve Aliza, a Karnei Shomron neighborhood, in Samaria. Drawn to advocating for the settlement movement, Sondra has served as the director of CFOIC Heartland-Israel since 1998, coordinating much of CFOIC Heartlands programs worldwide.
