Answer: The mission of the Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA for Kids) Program of Monongalia and Preston Counties, hereafter known as CASA, is to bring permanency as quickly as possible for children in the court system. It is our primary intent to advocate for the best interests of abused, neglected, and exploited children through the use of trained community volunteers, community education projects, and federal and state legislation. The focus of the CASA Program is serving abused and neglected children in juvenile dependency proceedings. The CASA Program shall provide trained community volunteers to advocate for the best interests of children in the court system. The CASA Program screens, trains, and supervises volunteers who serve as third party Friends of the Court, in an effort to ensure that the best interests of children are being considered by the court and child welfare system.
