Answer: Let's send more kids from more communities to the frontiers of science and technology. Innovation in science and technology is shaping all aspects of society in the 21st century, yet too few communities are participating in this innovation. In order to get more people to the innovation table, we must address inequity in our math talent system. Math is fundamental to science, engineering, and computer science, fields that serve as the gateway to the frontiers of science and technology. Yet, most high-achieving kids in the U.S. do not have access to high quality math talent development. We want to support the creation of a better math talent system. A system that believes more kids are capable of reaching the frontiers of science and technology and a system that does more to help kids succeed at the highest levels of math and computer science. We believe a robust math talent system should develop early problem solving identity in all kids, build deep math pathways throughout K-12 for those who develop high interest and motivation, and support top universities in recruiting and supporting students from a broader talent base.
