Answer: The Capital City Education Alliance lays the foundation for workforce readiness by empowering and inspiring youth in Greater Hartford through projects and partnerships that build character, skills and pathways to success. Our 2 signature programs are: Let's Paint! - teaches middle and high school students workforce readiness skills by engaging them in hands-on, project-based learning of color theory, design and commercial painting. In addition, we invite individuals and teams to join us on select volunteers days to paint and informally mentor our students. Not only do we help transform a place with paint, we transform a teen by teaching them skills to succeed in a job. In Broken to Beautiful students learn to creatively paint wooden crates (for records, bookshelves, etc.) and furniture for resale. The program continues to hone their painting skills while building on the workforce readiness skills already learned in Lets Paint! In,addition, students learn how to run a business, and the associated careers and jobs, by developing a marketable product.
