Answer: Welcome to Calzone's in the heart of North Beach with outdoor, heated dining. For a completely different take on North Beach, head up the street to Calzone's. This sparkling bistro has a large awning along the front with tables and chairs beneath it, perfect for watching the crowd go by on a lazy afternoon. The thin-crust pizzas are a popular choice, and for good reason: they're made in an oblong shape, with toppings like marinated eggplant, calamata olives and goat cheese; a grown-up pizza, but with the gooey cheese and crisp bite that bringsback childhood memories. The spinach salad makes a nice lunchtime meal, studded with olives, Maui onions, pancetta, chicken, pine nuts and Humboldt Fog goat cheese tossed with a mustard vinaigrette. Most unique are the homemade Italian pot stickers, an intriguing combination of Asian and Italian flavors, stuffed with sausage, wild mushrooms and ginger and served with a soy-sesame dipping sauce. Calzone's is a hot night spot, too; the music is cranked up and passersby stop in at the bar for a cocktail and a chat. The restaurant serves food until 1am, which makes it an ideal place to end the night with an espresso or a midnight snack!
