Answer: BUSHWICK UNITED HOUSING DEVELOPMENT FUND, CORPORATION (BUHDFC) is a Community-Based, Non-Profit, 503C Corporation that provides Head Start, day care services and social services via its Bushwick United Early Learn program (BUEL). BUELs mission is to provide high-quality, comprehensive early childhood development services and family support services to low-income families, so they can achieve success. Its childcare program includes education, health, nutrition, mental health, social services, parent involvement and special needs services through a partnership with United Community Services (UCS). Supplementary services are provided through collaborative ventures with other community agencies such as WIC, Woodhull Hospital, Cornell University Cooperative, RiseBoro Community Partnership and so forth. In addition, BU social services program provides workshops, volunteer opportunities as well as program referrals. All these offerings are geared toward empowering families to become independent and self-sufficient. Over the years, parent volunteers have gone onto become gainfully employed by BUEL. The primary goal of Bushwick United Early Learn is to improve the overall quality of life in the communities it serves by educating and empowering the children and families in its program. For over 40 years, BUEL has provided these critical services. Even through the COVID crisis it continues to serve and support the children and families in its program. BUEL consists of 8 center-based locations that proudly serve all the Bushwick and Williamsburg communities in the borough of Brooklyn, New York.
