Answer: Building Warriors, Inc is a peer run nonprofit specialty group of Public Safety Counselors and nationally certified Public Safety Peer Specialists providing direct services and training to support emergency responders, healthcare providers, and others affected by traumatic experience nationwide. It was Co-Founded by two dual trained firefighter clinicians, who have teamed up with other dual trained law enforcement, firefighters, paramedics, dispatchers, ski patrollers, nurses, physicians, active duty service members, military veterans, trauma survivors, and families to offer unique education and counseling services from individuals and an organization with lived experience in emergency work, healthcare and trauma. The organization provides several programs including trauma, addiction, and family counseling, "Employee Support Services" offered to organizations in an effort to promote the health and wellness of all staff and volunteers, a unique "Responder Counseling Academy" where they teach clinicians and clergy emergency cultural competence, the first nationally certified "Public Safety Peer Specialist" training program, and the "Sheepdog Trauma Retreat", a six-day retreat to help responders offload accumulated stress and other workplace adversities. All services are experiential and often action oriented. This reflects the people that it serves.
