Answer: Our mission is to build at-home libraries for economically disadvantaged children in Houston. Our vision is that every child in Houston is a book owner. In 2012, Amy Barnes and Sandra Ahlhorn started off holding book drives in their childrens elementary schools for several years, motivated by the realization that many Houston children do not have books in their homes. Collected books were donated to a few local elementary schools with children in need. Books Between Kids was created when they decided to combine efforts and help build at-home libraries for children who may not have been able to get them themselves.
