BEI has pioneered the concept of external secondary condensing heat recovery on hot water boilers. The HeatSponge Sidekick and Rainmaker designs represent a first-to-market technology which allows new or existing conventional efficiency boilers to operate at the same efficiencies achievable by condensing boilers given the same operating parameters. These units allow for standby oil operation as well. BEI is perhaps best known for its "Bruce" software; the industry's most advanced engineering and estimating software program which allows for the creation of fully priced and engineered proposal packages in real time via the Internet. "Bruce" was conceived and the tens of thousands of lines of code written solely by the company's founder. HeatSponge steam boiler economizers reflect the global state-of-the-art for heat recovery. These High-Value-Added economizers were engineered from the ground up to be highly efficient and easily maintainable providing for a very long and productive life. Two-Stage HeatSponge's allow for optimum heat recovery by integrating two separate heat exchangers into one casing and can increase the efficiency of steam boilers to over 90%. BEI has recently expanded into Three-Stage economizers to take advantage of all available heat sinks for providing maximum possible boiler efficiency increases.
