Answer: The Black Barons Group distributes coffee, tea, alternative energy beverages and other health conscious products to restaurants and concessionaire vendors. Recently, we became SBA 8(a) certified as of April, 2020.The BBG started as a distributor of diverse beverage products to individual concessionaires at Phoenix (AZ) Sky Harbor International Airport in 2009. In 2010, we became a certified Airport Concessionaire Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (ACDBE) obtaining the status as a "preferred supplier" to HMS Host and other top food and beverage concessionaire management groups in the United States. After much diligence and research relating to our beverage lines and in particular, our alternative energy drink option, we decided to seek entry within the U.S. Federal government. Since 2013, military researchers have seen a substantial and consistent rise in medical issues attributed to energy drink consumption. Heart palpation, sleep deprivation and elevated blood pressure are just a few of the existing health concerns confronting today's military personnel due to energy drinks. In the October 17, 2017 edition of the, The Army Times, Major General, Malcolm Frost stated If you think about fitness for the Army (military), this is holistic, meaning it is physical, it is mental, it is spiritual, it is nutrition-based, it is performance-based. The BBG believes providing options such as alternative health conscious beverages and products with key nutritional value would be helpful in enhancing the military's health and wellness mission.
