Answer: BirdsCaribbean is a vibrant international network of members and partners committed to conserving Caribbean birds and their habitats. Now in our 33rd year, we raise awareness, promote sound science, and empower local partners to build a region where people appreciate, conserve and benefit from thriving bird populations and ecosystems. BirdsCaribbean is a 501 c 3 non-profit organization. More than 100,000 local people participate in our programs each year, making BirdsCaribbean the most broad-based conservation organization in the region. BirdsCaribbean works by building networks and partnerships with local, national and international organizations and institutions that share our bird conservation goals. We also work to engage people of all ages in learning about birdstheir beauty, value, and why it is important to protect them. We do this through several of our flagship programs such as the Caribbean Endemic Bird Festival, West Indian Whistling-Duck & Wetlands Conservation Project, BirdsSleuth Caribbean, and Caribbean Waterbird Census, as well as programs like the Caribbean Birding Trail that seek to demonstrate the economic value of birds and their habitats. As a result, BirdsCaribbean and its partners have developed numerous regional projects, activities, and materials that facilitate local research, management, conservation, and education. Every two years we hold an international conference, which provides an opportunity for our members to meet and plan activities as well as to hold thematic workshops and training sessions. Some of our international partners and supporters include US Fish and Wildlife Service, US Forest Service, Royal Society for the Protection of Caribbean Birds, Cornell Laboratory of Ornithology, Wetlands International, and BirdLife International. BirdsCaribbean works throughout the insular Caribbean, including Bermuda, Bahamas, Trinidad and Tobago, and all islands in the Caribbean basin.
