Answer: Belltower was founded by two high school best friends in 2016 as a way to pursue artistic careers as potters. What evolved has become so much more... The reason we are called Belltower is simple. We want to be a meeting place and a landmark on this awesome skyline by supporting local artists and promoting the creative economy in Memphis. Everything you find in our store - from our coffee, tea, and food to our mugs, tables, art, and decor - is handmade by a different local artist. Our half coffeeshop / half pottery studio space was designed to create community around our work while providing accessibility to our craft. Coffee has served as our way of bringing people in and building a supportive community that is everything to us. We started in a 100 square foot storage unit filling up 5 gallon drums of water in our homes, and currently in our space we operate a coffeehouse that serves a variety of food and drinks using our handmade mugs, bowls, and plates. We have grown to sell our own work as well as many local artists work while producing wholesale orders of ceramics that range from 25 to 1000 pieces. We have a ceramics co-working studio that has over 60 active members and all kinds of classes that range from beginner students touching clay for the first time to experienced students looking to move towards professional work!
