Answer: The Bella Abzug Leadership Institute (BALI) is a non-profit 501c-3 organization that has faithfully worked with young women and girls since 2006, mentoring and inspiring them to become leaders in creating positive social and economic change. Our programs are provided at no cost to our trainees. Our eleven-day Summer Leadership and Debate Training Program is geared toward female Title I high school and college students throughout the New York City and tri-state area. BALI is founded on the principles and vision of Bella Abzug, the first Jewish Congresswoman elected to the U.S. House of Representatives. As a lawyer, Congresswoman, and international feminist leader, Bella worked all her life for civil rights and equal rights for women both domestically and internationally. She believed in empowering women to become proactive activists and entrepreneurial leaders working toward full equality for women.
