Answer: Bebashi was founded in 1985 in response to the increasing incidence of HIV/AIDS in the African American community of Philadelphia. We are a full-service HIV/AIDS case management agency with a special interest in serving low-income people of color with HIV disease. Our mission is to provide culturally sensitive health related information, direct service, and technical assistance in the areas of sexual health and prevention of sexually transmitted disease to the urban community. Since our founding, we have expanded our services to include a breast health program and an emergency food bank. We offer free mammogram referrals to women in underserved populations at greater risk for breast cancer, and our food bank provides meals to thousands of people a year. We reach tons of people in the Philadelphia area through our testing services, support groups, health fairs, community outreach, food bank, case management, and much more!
