Answer: "Real Hi-Fi For Real People" isn't our version of "The World's Coldest Beer", it is a statement of who we are and who our customers are. "Real People" are those that work for a living, and whose investments really mean something to them. For them a purchase can sometimes represent a sacrifice elsewhere, so they are careful when they buy. For this reason we carry "Real Hi-Fi". Meaning that we start with the most affordable components we can find that represent real value (like a pair of bookshelf speakers for $199) and go up to the point of diminishing returns of price/performance. While some shops feel that a given piece of hi-fi isn't "really high end" until you reach $50k or more for a piece of hand-made, small batch audio. We contrarily feel that major established audio brands that have large resources for research and manufacturing, buy raw materials in vast amounts, have semi-automated manufacturing techniques, and worldwide distribution are more capable of building high-performance gear at a much lower price. Much like comparing a hand-built Ferrari at $400,000 to an Acura NSX at less than half the price. The phenomena of getting swept away emotionally by music or a movie does not have to be prohibitively expensive! While there are many levels of performance and some more sublime than others, at almost any price you can "get the experience" with careful selection. For example, someone with a laptop computer could spend $99 on an Audioquest Dragonfly Black DAC/Headphone Amp and $79 on a pair of Grado SR60e's and be in the club! We have a staff that loves their music and movies as much as you do, and are eager to spend the time for folks to learn as much as they like, and more importantly, experience the gear before purchase. We have created one of the largest displays of stereo and home theater in the Northeast for people to listen, look, and compare for themselves before they ever buy.
