Answer: We are a non-profit organization, located in Appalachian Ohio, that strengthens mental health recovery by providing individuals with the opportunity to engage in self-discovery, creative expression, and community contribution through the arts. Each year we provide 30 week of community-based photography classes at introductory and advanced levels; host an annual juried exhibition; promote artwork and presentations at local, state and national venues; offer leadership for Patient Centered Research Community focused on rural mental health; and operates a center and gallery for arts and wellbeing. APP artists have received local, state, and national attention for their photography and mental health advocacy. As artists, members of the group are recognized for their ability to transform commonplace aspects of life into emotionally expressive, insightful images, and for their contemporary reflection of Appalachian Ohio. As advocates, they demonstrate that each individual's voice deserves be expressed and appreciated.
