Answer: Established in 1995, the Learning Technology Centers assist the Illinois State Board of Education with statewide initiatives by supporting Illinois school districts with hardware and software infrastructure, as well as classroom and teacher readiness for integrating technology in the classroom and curriculum. The LTCs also fully support the eLearning Division of the Illinois State Board of Education. The Learning Technology Centers support and help implement the Illinois State Board of Education K-12 initiatives. Teamwork is the combined efforts of the State Board of Education as it provides focus for the fifteen(15) LTCs and their directors to assist them in delivering the state technology plan to schools. Their mission is to provide the technological resources to improve academic achievement and prepare students for the 21st century. Working in concert with each other, helps dispense uniform technology aid and assistance to each and every school district in the State of Illinois. The Learning Technology Centers also work in cooperation with the Regional Offices of Education, Intermediate Service Centers, higher education, special education and vocational education partners.
