Answer: Annandale Volunteer Fire Department (AVFD) is one of the twelve volunteer fire departments in Fairfax County. AVFD owns two stations, Station 8 on Columbia Pike, and Station 23 on Little River Turnpike. Our owned front line fleet consists of one Ambulances, two Medics, two Engines, and one Canteen unit. Our mission is to prevent and curtail the destruction of property by fire and to aid in the preservation of life, health and property by providing emergency and non-emergency services to the citizens of Annandale and Fairfax County. We do so by partnering with Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department and pooling resources with other volunteer fire departments within the County. Our volunteers donate thousands of operational and administrative hours to support the mission of AVFD. Last year alone, our volunteers contributed in excess of 15,000 hours in responding to emergency incidents, attending training, and fundraising by working BINGO.
