Answer: American Native Plants was established in 1998 as a small, 2-acre backyard operation in Kingsville, MD growing only five different species of native trees and shrubs. Over the past 23 years, we have outgrown multiple locations and now reside on over 20 acres in beautiful Middle River, MD. Today American Native plants grows hundreds of species, producing thousands of containerized plants each year. From day one, the mission of ANP has been to provide quality native plants that create sustainable wildlife habitat contribute to ecological biodiversity and restore and replenish clean waterways. With the onset of climate change and extreme weather events, ecological restoration is more important than ever before. The species grown at ANP help increase tree canopy cover, reverse forest fragmentation, and infiltrate stormwater runoff. We are honored to be part of an industry that contributes to sustainable ecosystems, and we have had the privilege of providing high-quality plants for everything from the Hurricane Sandy beach restoration to the 9/11 memorial in honor of Flight 93. While we grow primarily for the restoration industry, we also serve commercial landscapers and garden centers in addition to providing liner material for other growers. The average retail customer now has an increased awareness of the importance of native species, and ANP is prepared to supply quality plants for your growing customer base. Together, we can nurture the resurgence of North American ecosystems.
