Answer: African Orphan Educational Foundation is a tax exempt 501(c)(3) charitable organization. We equip, educate and empower orphans and vulnerable youth in Africa. At-risk children in the villages we serve are personally identified by our mission and aid partners; we then align children with caring individuals who will cover their primary, secondary and post-secondary educational expenses and personal development needs. By concentrating all resources on education, we are able to produce greater learning outcomes for more students while providing needed support to the U.S. mission and aid organizations who maintain operations on the ground. Currently we are operating in Uganda, Kenya and Burundi. In sub-Saharan Africa, 32 million children of primary school age are out of school. And, in the countries we serve, less than 25% of youth will complete the equivalent of a high school education. An education offers hope and expands opportunities in these regions largely plagued by conflict, HIV/AIDS and other diseases, poor healthcare and sanitation, job and food insecurity, and extreme poverty. Student sponsorship fees cover a student's school tuition, school supplies, personal requirements, a school uniform, shoes and a backpack, at least one hot meal per day at school, basic healthcare (in locales where provided by the school or affiliated clinic), preferred schools, gap protection, a proprietary leadership curriculum and international placement program (in development).
