In 1994, West Virginia became the fifth state in the US to legalize video lottery terminals (VLTs), which are electronic gaming machines similar to slot machines. Today, there are five casinos in West Virginia, all of which offer VLTs, table games, and poker rooms. The largest casino in the state is the Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races, which is located in the eastern part of the state. The other casinos are located in Wheeling, Chester, Cross Lanes, and White Sulphur Springs.
